Manufacturing pigments and coatings demands resources — water, energy, chemistry. At Kroma, we believe the obligation to the environment is as real as the obligation to our customers. Every facility is designed to prove that excellence and stewardship coexist.
Achieved through our patented
MVR wastewater system
Organic pigment manufacturing generates significant wastewater laden with toxic chemicals and by-products. Our Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) system — a patented technology — transforms this challenge into a closed-loop operation.
The system processes 72,000 litres of wastewater per day, removes all toxic chemicals and by-products to produce clean water, and enables 90% of that water to be reused in production. The result: near-zero liquid discharge and a dramatically reduced impact on the local environment.
Between February 2021 and March 2022 alone, the system enabled a reduction of approximately 13,500 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. We comply with all current government regulations covering air, water, and soil pollution.
Our water-based barrier coatings are completely free of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) — a critical requirement for food-contact packaging and increasingly mandated by global regulators. FDA compliant, heat sealable, recyclable and compostable.
Every KROMATEX™ formulation uses renewable and non-VOC components — significantly reducing volatile organic compound emissions in textile printing and coating operations, protecting both workers and the broader environment.
We meet all current government regulations for air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution across our Vapi and Sarigam facilities. Our ISO 9001:2015 certification covers environmental process controls alongside quality management.
Maintaining and improving on 90% water reuse rates. Monitoring and reporting on liquid discharge at all facilities. Expanding MVR technology to new processes.
Building on the 13,500 tonne CO₂ reduction achieved in 14 months. Process efficiency improvements targeting further energy intensity reductions across all three facilities.
Expanding PFAS-free and NON-VOC formulations across all product families. R&D investment into bio-based alternatives and renewable-component dispersions.
KROMAQUA™ barrier coatings are designed to preserve recyclability and compostability of the paper substrate — enabling customers to meet their own circular economy targets without compromising packaging performance.
Our sustainability credentials, ISO certification, and quantified environmental data are available for ESG procurement processes and supplier qualification requirements.
